Times Square Alliance, founded in 1992, works to improve and promote Times Square. In addition to providing safety and sanitation services, the Alliance coordinates many major events in Times Square including New Year’s Eve and advocates on behalf of its constituents with respect to a host of public policy, planning and quality-of-life issues.
We are currently seeking energetic, detail-oriented Production Assistants to help facilitate events on the Broadway Pedestrian Plazas in Times Square as part of our burgeoning plaza programs (http://tsq.org/music). This role is best suited for people with event, production, stage management, front-of-house, and/or customer service experience. This is an opportunity to work on recurring, small-scale events (including small-scale concerts and activity series). This position will help execute the nuts and bolts of plaza activities in the world’s most iconic neighborhood on a day-to-day basis from daily set-up through strike. Productions Assistants will be working outdoors for prolonged periods of time including in inclement weather conditions.

The Production Assistants will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support Times Square Alliance plaza programming initiatives to ensure consistent and high-quality presentation and audience experience
  • Serve as the day-of staff for plaza programming events, concerts, performances, new initiatives and other seasonal programs
  • Support the Programming Manager and Events & Programming Assistant in the execution of the plaza programs by setting up production equipment and check in table; resetting plaza furniture; greeting, checking in, and assisting audience members; and breaking down equipment
  • Assist the Sound Engineer and performers at concerts in set up and break down of audio equipment
  • Interact and engage in a Front-of-House and brand ambassador capacity with audiences and the general public, as a face and representative of the Alliance
  • Execute day-to-day updates on outdoor signage
  • Contribute to the compilation of pre- and post-event surveys and notes, and compile daily and/or weekly debrief reports
  • Capture photos and videos of events as necessary
  • General administrative work may include mailings, data entry, archiving, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Proactive team-player, who is a creative and detail-oriented self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills
  • A good listener with the ability to follow specific directions and instructions in order to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
  • A problem solver with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to engage in strenuous physical activity including: foot patrolling, walking, and standing for extended periods, climbing and descending stairs, the movement of signage, audio equipment, and other items, including in hot and humid outdoor environments
  • College degree preferred
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work afternoons/evenings to accommodate an active event schedule
  • Event, stage management, production, front-of-house, and/or customer service experience is a MUST
  • Videography/photography skills a PLUS
