The Times Square Alliance is seeking a highly-motivated individual interested in the growth and evolution of cities, urban policy, neighborhood development and local area management, to help us manage, evaluate and advocate for Times Square, with the goal of making a multi-use district that is home to some of the world’s most famous theaters, companies and venues, continue to work and thrive for everyone.

The Times Square Alliance’s Policy, Planning and Research department has planned and executed some of the most prominent placemaking and capital development initiatives in New York City, including the reconstruction of Father Duffy Square and the Broadway pedestrian plazas. The team has also built one of the most comprehensive urban research and data analysis programs and uses that research to develop and advocate for innovative urban economic development and management policies that are informed by evidence and challenge accepted norms and practices. The department has also been involved with an array of advocacy efforts that have resulted in innovative pedestrian and traffic improvements and newer and more appropriate regulation of the public realm.

The Policy & Research Analyst will work closely not only with the Policy, Planning and Research team, but also with the Communications, Programming, and External Affairs departments on projects relating to external affairs, policy development, plaza programming, communications, and business relations.  The Analyst will help collect and analyze an array of data, develop innovate ways of expressing quantitative and qualitative information, represent the Alliance at relevant meetings and public hearings on issues related to our policy agenda. The Analyst will also support the VP of Policy, Planning & Research on design initiatives, capital projects and other public space initiatives.

The Policy & Research Analyst is an integral part of the Alliance’s central staff and crucial to the seamless coordination of our policy and research portfolios across departments.

The duties for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for collecting and analyzing an array of economic and quality of life data.
  • Preparing and disseminating the above described data for Board of Director reports & presentations, media requests, broker & developer requests, and other Alliance projects.
  • Managing and maintaining the Policy, Planning & Research Department’s real estate and information databases– Salesforce, Co-Star and Springboard.
  • Supporting the VP of Policy, Planning & Design on capital projects and other public space initiatives.
  • Generating maps and other visualizations of place specific data in the district, such as pedestrian counts and new real estate & development data.
  • Responsible for maintaining, tracking and analyzing Retail & Economic Development data.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in urban studies or related field
  • Experience with database management a plus

  • Experience with quantitative research preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, specifically Excel and Word
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator
